Katalin Pearman
Consul of Hungary
Katalin Pearman has been serving as Honorary Consul of Hungary for the states of Washington and Idaho since 2016, assisting Hungarian residents with citizenship and other official matters, assisting Hungarian delegations and businesses with local connections, advising US citizens on travel to Hungary, representing Hungary in city and state organizations and events. She has been active with local Hungarian organizations for over 35 years, for which she was awarded the Presidential Order of Merit in 2018.
Ms. Pearman has been serving on the board of the Consular Association of Washington since 2017, serving as CAW President in 2020 and 2021.
Ms. Pearman was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, where she received a degree in foreign trade and foreign language correspondence. She worked for Hyatt Hotels which eventually brough her on a business trip to the US where she met her future husband Jim and she moved to Seattle in 1985. They have been married for 39 years and have 2 daughters.
Ms. Pearman has continued to work with foreign languages in the US. She worked at Sheraton Hotel & Towers, the American Cultural Exchange, and in the health research field assisting with international clinical trials since 2007, working for Health Research Associates, Inc., Optum Inc., QualityMetric and most recently IQVIA. She is certified as a Hungarian>English translator by the American Translators Association.
In her limited free time, she likes to travel, attend art exhibits and classical concerts.
