Carlos Jose Arroyave-Prera

The Consul General of Guatemala in Seattle Carlos José Arroyave Prera, who was born in 1973 in Guatemala City, is a Guatemalan Architect and a carrier Diplomat with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.  He was graduated as an Architect at the Rafael Landívar University in 1997 and, in 1999, obtained a MSc Construction Economics and Management at the Bartlett School of Built Environment Department, University College London, UK.  Moreover, he has got Postgraduate Degrees in “Diplomacy, International Relations and Public Imagine” (2014) at the Galileo University of Guatemala and in “Security National System for Employees of the Security National System” (2013), at the Guatemalan National Institute of Strategic and Security Studies, between other short academical courses and trainings in Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Repúblic of China (Taiwan), France y Switzerland, among others.

After working several years in the architectural field in Guatemala, in 1999 Carlos J. Arroyave Prera has worked as Consultant at the UNESCO Department of Architecture for Education in Paris, France.  Then, in 2000, he has continued his laboural life as Third Secretary and First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the UN Office in Geneva (2000-2006), First Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of Guatemala in Moscow (2006-2012), Deputy Director of Bilateral International Relations, for Europe, at the Guatemalan MFA (2012-2015), Minister Counsellor of the Embassy od Guatemala in Bern and Alternate Representative of Guatemala to the Universal Postal Union (2015-2021), Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Guatemala in Madrid (2021-2022), and, from January 2023, Consul General of Guatemala in Seattle, WA.  In September 2022, Mr. Arroyave Prera has published in Spain his first genealogy book entitled “Roots: The Prera Sierra of Cobán”.
