Honorary Consul General of Nepal

Mr. Ang Chhiri (AC) Sherpa was born in the eastern Himalayas of Solu Khumbu Tapting, Nepal. After his upbringing in Nepal, he ventured to the United States of America to pursue higher education. Graduating from Mercer Island High School with a National Honor Society scholarship, he furthered his academic journey at the University of Washington, where he obtained a business degree. Subsequently, he pursued continuing education in MSIS at Hawaii Pacific University.

Since 1998, Mr. Ang Chhiri has been the founder and president of International Sherpa Guides (ISG Trek), showcasing his prowess as a business entrepreneur with ownership of multiple international enterprises.

In 2010, Mr. Ang Chhiri achieved the remarkable feat of scaling the seven highest mountains on seven continents, famously known as the 7 Summits, accomplishing this within a mere 42 climbing days. This milestone led to the establishment of the 7 Summits Foundation USA and Nepal, a registered 501C3 non-profit organization dedicated to bolstering education and healthcare systems in developing nations, with more information available at 7SummitsFoundation.org.

Recognizing his contributions to tourism, the government of Nepal bestowed upon him the honor of serving as a Goodwill Ambassador in 2011.

From 2016 to 2020, Mr. Ang Chhiri served as the Honorable Consul of the Government of Nepal to Washington State, subsequently transitioning to the role of Honorary Consul General from 2020 to the present. In these capacities, he diligently represents his homeland, fostering diplomatic ties and facilitating cultural exchange and collaboration between Nepal and the United States.

An active member of the Rotary Club and the Consulars Association of Washington, Ang Chhiri serves as the 2nd vice president, showcasing his commitment to community engagement and service. During his leisure time, he indulges in pursuits such as golfing and hiking.
